Students find many opportunities in and around the city of Lakeland, as well as across the country and even internationally to gain experience. One of our most popular venues is Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM), a facility only 10 minutes from campus that allows students to experience firsthand many aspects of providing health care to the working uninsured in Polk County. Our local hospital, Lakeland Regional Medical Center, and several large health care clinics as well as local physicians have provided excellent experiences for our students. Outside of Florida, students have traveled overseas on medical mission trips to places such as Costa Rica and Africa.
