Erin LaSala Phillips received her B.S. in Dance Education from the University of South Florida and her M.F.A. in Dance Choreography from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has worked as a freelance choreographer throughout the U.S., and her choreography has been performed and recognized in numerous dance festivals and venues, including the American Dance Guild Festival in NYC and the Your Move New Jersey Dance Festival. She has been an invited international guest artist at the 33 35 Dance Intensive held at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus and a guest artist at Valdosta State University, North Carolina Dance Masters, and is regularly involved to teach at various national dance festivals and dance intensives each year. As an educator, she has held the positions of Dance Education Coordinator at Kent State University and Director of the Jacksonville University Summer Dance Intensive, as well as taught at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Winthrop University.
Biography
Erin LaSala Phillips' training has been equally devoted to ballet, jazz and modern dance; and she has studied dance technique with numerous notable instructors such as Gretchen Ward Warren, Madame Darvash, Michael Foley, Jan Van Dyke and BJ Sullivan. LaSala danced professionally with Asher Dance Eclectic and Revolutions Dance Company, as well as worked as a free-lance performer and choreographer in Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio. LaSala’s choreography has been performed and recognized in numerous venues throughout New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, as well as at the American Dance Guild Festival and the Mid-Atlantic American College Dance Festival Gala.As an advocate for dance education, her involvement has ranged from being a member of the summer dance faculty at Winthrop University and a part of the dance technique faculty at UNC Greensboro, to being director of middle and high school dance programs, along with several other instructional positions. Most recently she held the position of Assistant Professor and the Dance Education Coordinator at Kent State University. Additionally, she is the current program director of the Jacksonville University Summer Dance Intensive. LaSala is very excited to be a part of the development of the dance program at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË beginning in Fall 2014.
