Deborah Cantero, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, CNE

Adjunct Graduate Faculty

Cantero

My philosophy of teaching and nursing education places the student at the very center of all activity. Curriculum guidelines, course objectives, teaching strategies, instructional delivery techniques, and evaluation methods must consistently strive to promote knowledge enhancement and learning outcome achievement for all students. I believe the student should be treated with respect and dignity in an engaged learning environment, valuing the continuum of care from disease management to wellness prevention for all health care environments.

Blanton Nursing

Biography

I am a native Floridian, born and raised in the Tampa/Plant City area. I am a nationally board-certified, doctorally-prepared family nurse practitioner (FNP) with over 26 years experience practicing as a FNP across the lifespan in community, primary care, and convenient care settings. In addition to clinical practice, I have enjoyed teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs in higher education for 20 years. Prior to becoming a FNP, I practiced as a registered nurse for 17 years in acute/critical care and home health settings.

My scholarly interest focuses on diagnostic ability and clinical reasoning development in nurse practitioner students along with the alignment of innovative pedagogical methods that promote clinical reasoning advancement.
