Florida Dance Theatre Brings Aladdin To Branscomb Auditorium Stage
Mar 7, 2022
The Florida Dance Theatre is prepared to take audiences on a magic carpet ride as it presents three performances of the classic tale of “Aladdin.”
This performance of “Aladdin” will be brought to life with original choreography by Stefan Dolbashian, FDT’s Resident Choreographer. Dolbashian proudly presents a thrilling and vibrant original adaptation of the story of the clever and resourceful Aladdin on his adventures with the beautiful Princess, while escaping the clutches of the evil Vanatur. With a fusion of contemporary ballet and folk-dance styles rooted in Armenia culture, audiences will be taken on a journey through the marketplace, the mystical cave of wonders and more.
“I am so excited to share my Armenian heritage with our audiences,” Dolbashian said. “This original adaptation of Aladdin has allowed me to reconnect with my heritage, and more importantly, the spirit of my father.”
The musical score for FDT’s production of Aladdin is a combination of authentic Armenian music recorded by Dolbashian’s late father, John, and freelance musicians.
This first-year production will be performed by members of FDT, students from its academy, and from »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË, as well as professional dancers from around the Central Florida area.
Aladdin is set to be presented on March 11 at 7:30 p.m. and March 12 at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Branscomb Auditorium on the campus of »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children, and no cost for kids 5-and-under.
